Personal Narrative

My name is Nadya Hayasi, and I am a first-year graduate student in the Communication, Culture, and Technology (CCT) program at Georgetown University. I chose CCT because I believe this program perfectly encapsulates my interests and is the ideal place for me to nurture my passion for exploring unanswered questions at the intersection of politics, culture, and media. This interdisciplinary approach allows me to examine how technology shapes public discourse and politics, a subject I find endlessly fascinating.

I’m a huge fan of reading, whether it’s a cozy romance or a thrilling mystery. The joy of immersing myself in a compelling narrative has been a lifelong passion that fuels my curiosity and inspired my academic work. I liken my academic interests to a bookshelf, reflecting the diverse and multifaceted questions I pursue in my studies.

My current research focuses on multicultural and multilingual political outreach to Asian Americans. I am particularly interested in how digital platforms are used to engage communities and shape political narratives. I am also exploring broader topics such as polarization and misinformation in digital spaces, especially as they pertain to marginalized communities. These areas of study reflect my commitment to understanding how diverse voices can be amplified in the digital age.

In addition to my studies, I work as a Communications and Web Development Graduate Associate for the Georgetown Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS). In this role, I develop and write content for the website to promote the center’s initiatives and programming. This position has allowed me to hone my skills in web development and search engine optimization (SEO) while supporting projects that enhance teaching and learning at Georgetown. Collaborating with a team of creative and analytical minds, I’ve learned the importance of integrating technology with storytelling to create impactful and accessible digital content.

Looking ahead, I aim to combine my academic background, professional experience, and personal interests to contribute to a more equitable digital landscape. I hope to pursue a PhD in Political Science or Political Communications to make a meaningful impact in understanding and addressing the complexities of communication in our increasingly interconnected world.
